The Special Needs Block.

A great place for the intellectually impaired

True Depravity

Ironically, this section was the place an intellectually challenged individual could find himself in. See abuse that ran rampint across the asylum also occurred here. The only addition would the fact that intellectually disabled patients, with low cognative ability, were exploited. See, vile workers took advantage of this fact. As a result of their intellectual and cognative incompetence, they didn't have the capacity to respond. As a result of them being dumber, as these people were known as, were the most afflicted group. Often times, the truama would result in patient committing suicide, as opposed to being killed. See, a primative and barbaric principal governs this block and all others, within this asylum: Survival of the Fittest. This was the on going theme of this God forsaken place.

Brutal Dehumanization

Individuals, the had lacking IQ, were thought of as even LESS than those of regular cognative ability. This means living conditions were more inhospitable. A room in the special needs block was around 7 foot by 7 foot, without a bed, without a place to deficate or urinate, at least 3 people on a room, and an EVEN smaller ration of food that was given every two days. This resulted in extreme aggression and starvation in patients. In fact, the average weight of an adult male patient over 5'6" in height, was around 110 lbs. Cannibalism was far more common with in this block. In addition to this fellow patients ,whom were victims of cannibalistic crimes within this block, were commonly disfigured beyond recognition. In fact, it was not uncommon to find a human body, picked completely clean. In fact, the only time in which cell doors were permitted to be opened was when all pateints inside were dead. This is because the patients, while extremely weak and malnorished, would attack whoever opened the cell. While all morality had left the patients, they would still work as a team to secure any and all food. Even if it was human. Abuse, sexual or not, was even more prevalent within this block. This translated to a higher spread rate of sexually transmitted diseases and flesh infections. Mold and putrified remains are usually found in rooms.

Violent and immoral Treatments

Due to the lower congnative ability, the patients were often unaware of the impending fate they were about to suffer. Due to the fact that these patients tended to be violent, they were often beaten during procedures. They were often skinned by the numerious and merciless beatings. If a mistake was made, on a doctor's accord, then it could've easily resulted in the end of his life. Sometimes, patients were tied and hung from the ceiling. From there, they would be whipped to the point of passing out. Often times, multiple doctors would whip patients, this would usually result in death via blood loss. Patients woupd become so ill, that an deep pool of vomit and pus would coat the floors of the rooms. Patients, challenged but mentally sound, were transformed and reduced to animals, whom have lost all traces of humanity. It is important to remember that this writing was inspired by TRUE events. Under the right conditions, humans can be turned into animals.
